My name is Jessica Papstein and I am a graduate of the Art Institute of California - Orange County
with a Bachelor of Science in Media Arts and Animation. Shortly after graduation, I was lucky
enough to be granted a rigging apprenticeship at Rhythm & Hues Studios, during which we were
also trained to do technical animation on my very first production, Alvin and the Chipmunks.
After that wrapped, I was trained to do animation support. This entailed setting up scenes for the
animators and helping them fix technical issues with their files throughout production. After a
couple years of animation support, I got my first opportunity to do actual environmental layout,
or set dressing, on the movie Hop. Since then, I have been doing a mix of animation support and
env. layout. It was a privilege to be able to do both anim support and env. layout for Life of Pi.
Through my almost 6 years of experiences at R&H, I have discovered that I really enjoy the layout department,
and hope to continue honing my skills and working in this area, working on films or games,
and making friends with more awesome people. <3
